We demonstrate that in a typical cell equipped with a circular polarizer the polarization dependence of light scattering by liquid crystals is observed in the focal plane of the optical microscope. In the optical cell constructed in this study the liquid crystal is sandwiched by the half-wave plate and the quarter-wave plate.
